I am an artist born in 1984 in Lithuania, grew up in Vilnius, Užupis, currently living in Vilnius. I lived and studied in London for thirteen years. I was immersed in tattooing for ten years, now I focus most of my attention on drawings.
I've been drawing since I was a little girl, since I could hold a pencil in my hand," my mother said.
Drawing is like air for me, a plunge into another world where there are no limits, no borders, no beliefs, no programmes, just the vibrations of the soul. When I start a drawing, I imagine it, but the end result is always different - it's like unwrapping a gift, when little by little something new is revealed, something I have not experienced before.
I use many small details and patterns from nature in my drawings. Walking around the city, I see patterns on buildings and streets, and my eye is drawn to the patterns all around me. The same in nature, in a small patch of greenery I see the whole micro-world, even more subtle, as if another parallel is opening up, living right next to us. All the leaves, the colours, the endless patterns of the stems and the mysterious mood that envelops them, I want to convey in my drawings.
I believe that Mother Nature hides her secrets in the small details. I put them into my drawings. I like to draw in great detail, so that people never get tired of looking at the picture, so that they experience a new journey through the fabulous world of Nature. This filling of the drawing with patterns is called Zen tangle. I also use the technique of stippling. This makes the shadows and the shapes of objects softer. This technique requires a lot of patience and very careful work, but the result is always worth it.
The themes of my work are my own path towards awareness, my reflections. I am trying to free myself from unnecessary beliefs, emotions and attitudes. When the mind is cleansed of unnecessary turmoil, the world of the soul, parallels, the cosmos, the extraterrestrial information that lies within us, opens up. This is what I try to convey in my work.
My work is dominated by feminine energy, female figures.
When I became interested in the relationship between the masculine and feminine energies in us, I found that when I am only in the masculine energy, when I am only focused on the result, on the business, on the future, then the body goes on strike, showing that I have been in the masculine energy too long. So I want to remind myself and other women through my work - let's embrace the feminine energy, let ourselves live in it, let's feel the balance between the two, let's discover their differences.
With my illustrations of femininity, I want to remind women to let ourselves feel, admire and enjoy the world. Let's let tenderness flood our hearts and, having released our inner child, let it play in the meadow 😊
In this way we will awaken our imagination, our most powerful tool.
